Painting the Picture of Marriage

Hey guys, just wanted to share one of our favorite wedding photos. The funny part about it, is that its not really even about us... Buts thats the beautiful thing about weddings and marriages, it should never be about just us. One of the sole purposes of marriage is to paint a picture of Christ and his church. Its about the man laying his life down for his wife, pushing his wife more and more towards Christ. Its about putting Christ at the center and leaning on each other as you love your neighbor.

In this photo Jim Hines (our friend) is doing just that. He is graciously standing in the snow and holding our umbrella. You may think that is it, but what you may not be seeing is that he is also serving his wife Mary. It is Mary who stepped in and so graciously helped us plan our wedding. At the same time we see Jim serving and laying his life down for his wife by helping her to serve us.

When I often think about the Hines's, I think about the Father's love. I think about the way they constantly live their lives not for themselves but for their community, for each other and for this city. Ever since I had the pleasure of meeting this family, these have been clearly seen.

I love to see Facebook status' from Mary that read "Safe and smooth flights home and arrived to a clean house, clean sheets, dinner cooked and ready for Community Group! I love Jim Hines for many reasons - he loves me and he is a humble servant! Thank you HB!"

These two are such a testimate to the what marriage is supposed to be and I look forward to learning much from them. They will always be dear to our hearts.

Enjoy the photo.
